Kilkenny SHC: returning Larkin stars for Stephens

Eoin Larkin was in sparkling form for James Stephens in the Kilkenny SHL/SHC at the weekend.

The eight-time All-Ireland winner, who recently returned from UN peacekeeping duty in Syria, shot 0-7 (0-5 from play) in the city side's 1-14 to 0-13 victory over Rower-Inistioge on Saturday. Jack McGrath also chipped in with four frees, while Niall Mullins scored the game's only goal in the first half.

Larkin's county team-mates TJ Reid and Colin Fennelly scored 1-9 and 1-1 respectively as Ballyhale Shamrocks accounted for Mullinavat by 3-22 to 5-7. Dicksboro accounted for Fenian's 4-15 to 1-12, Erin's Own beat Danesfort 1-21 to 1-11, while Mark Bergin registered 0-11 for O'Loughlin Gaels in their win over Clara.

Meanwhile, Bennettsbridge suffered their first competitive defeat in three years when succumbing to St. Martin's by 4-16 to 1-19, with John Maher notching 1-8 for the winners.
