Former All-Star midfielder Michael Rice has been dropped from the Kilkenny senior hurling squad.

The Irish Independent reports that Rice and defender Brian Kennedy have been informed by Brian Cody that their services won't be required in the championship.

32-year-old Rice has been plagued by injury in recent times but was named on the bench for the recent league semi-final against Clare in Semple Stadium while Kennedy replaced the injured Jackie Tyrrell.
