Kilkenny forward Ger Aylward is determined to battle back for his season ending ruptured cruciate knee ligament injury.

Aylward damaged the knee in the early stages of last weekend's All-Ireland club JHC semi-final win and straight away he misses the club final with his native Glenmore.

An All-Star recipient in 2015, Aylward was hoping to push on to further glory this year, but he will instead be concentrating on his rehabilitation in the coming months.

And the 23-year-old insisted to the Kilkenny People that he will work very hard to get back as strong or even stronger that before.

"This isn't going to beat me," said the stylish corner forward. "This is a fight I face on my own and I will tackle it. I would be wickedly headstrong anyway, so I will use that streak to fight this. I intend to come back stronger next year."
