Kilkenny man plots St Kieran's College's downfall

April 02, 2015

Kilkenny man Niall Cahill is manager of the Thurles CBS side that faces St Kieran's College in Saturday's All-Ireland senior colleges hurling final.

Cahill is one of many Cats to be former or current students at the Tipperary college, where he now teaches. This weekend, he will be plotting the downfall of a team from his native patch:

"I'm a Thurles CBS boy," the Emeralds clubman notes in The Kilkenny People. "I went to school here, I hurled here, and now I teach here.

"This is a game which has nothing to do with the county. It's your school and you fight for them. Our boys will do just that. We know Kieran's have a bit of depth but we'll go at them as best we can.

"We're in no doubt about the challenge ahead of us. Kieran's have a lot of team who played in last years's final against Kilkenny CBS. That level of experience is huge. They have quality everywhere."

Thurles also have two Kilkenny lads in their squad: Kevin Duggan (Galmoy) and Michael Troy (Emeralds).
