Manager Christy Walsh says Bennettsbridge's success of 2014 was long overdue.
The 'Bridge put years of heartache behind them by capturing the Kilkenny JHC and followed up by winning the provincial club crown last weekend, beating Shamrocks of Offaly in the final.
"The history and tradition of the parish is well known but before this year it was 1971 when the club last won a county title at adult level," Walsh points out in The Kilkenny People.
"Winning the title was well overdue for the club and for the team as well - this was their third year to get to a county final.
"It had to be won this time. After that, winning in Leinster was a bonus.
"It's onwards and upwards now. We have a semi-final in January against Annaghdown. We'll be ready for them."
