Kerry's Kieran Donaghy and Richie Power of Kilkenny have been named as the GAA/GPA All-Stars sponsored by Opel Players of the Month for September, in football and hurling respectively.

Both selections were chosen by the inter-county playing body and were presented in recognition of the players' outstanding contributions to their counties, as another exciting Championship season comes to a close.

Donaghy hit the headlines after his spectacular performance scoring 1-2, as the Kingdom won their first Sam Maguire trophy since 2009. With a majestic showing at corner-forward, the Tralee man came from the bench to help rescue the initial semi-final clash with Mayo and went on to score a vital goal in the replay.

Power made his sixth All-Ireland Final appearance as the Cats were crowned Liam MacCarthy Cup winners for a 35th time. Kilkenny proved themselves to be the better team yet again as they beat arch-rivals Tipperary in a titanic replay which saw Power score (1-1) and his side go on to win the title 2-17 to 2-14.

Players are short-listed by members of the All-Stars Steering Committee and the winners selected by the county playing body. Each winner receives €1,000 and a trophy.
