Healy couldn't say no to Offaly

July 24, 2014
Kilkenny man Diarmuid Healy is glad to be back working with Offaly GAA.

Renowned coach Healy, who led the Faithful County to four Leinster SHCs as well as All-Irelands in 1981 and '85, has been asked by Leinster Council to lead the drive to get the midlanders back on track and has already set up a Working Group in the county.

"When the call came, I couldn't say no," he admits in The Kilkenny People. "We will take an in-depth look at coaching and team preparations.

"There is no time frame really. Things are open ended. Hopefully things will move along pretty speedily.

"It is nice to be back in the thick of things in Offaly again. I have great memories of great times working there with wonderful hurling people. I think the will, ambition and talent is there to improve things for Offaly hurling.

"There is plenty of talent there. We will try to help all interested parties to maximise that potential. I think with more emphasis on coaching there can be a huge improvement."
