Erin's Own boss praises Byrne

July 17, 2014
Erin's Own manager David Buggy has lauded the commitment of wing forward Jimmy Byrne, who flew home to play his part in Saturday's victory over Rower Inistioge.

Byrne returned from London to participate in the senior hurling league match at Clara, which Erin's Own won by 1-13 to 0-12, thereby boosting their chances of making the knockout stage of the county championship.

"Jimmy Byrne came home from England again this morning to play," Buggy said in The Kilkenny People. "He is teaching in London.

"He trains over there and texts me regularly to tell me the sessions he has done. That is what you call commitment.

"He is an example to everyone in terms of commitment. That is the difference between wanting to play and not wanting to play.

"The same chap would come home from Australia I would say if you asked him."
