Skehan: 'Nash rule' has to go

Legendary Kilkenny goalkeeper Noel Skehan wants Anthony Nash's style of free-taking banned immediately.
The nine-time All-Ireland winner says the GAA can't afford to wait until next year's annual Congress in Cavan to amend the rule as he feels it's only a matter of time before a player is seriously injured from a free taken inside the 20-metre line.
"The rule states that the ball is supposed to be hit from the 20 metre line and that's not happening as we all know. We have specialised free-takers now who are throwing the ball 10 yards in ahead of them and I can tell you it will take one injury, a serious one," the GAA Hurling Hall of Fame inductee warned yesterday.
"I see Central Council have put it back to 2015 to make a decision and that's crazy. I'd appeal to Liam O'Neill to make a call on this very fast.
"I see two or three high-ranking officials in different counties come out saying 'leave it as it is, it's fantastic, it will be grand.' But these fellas, when there's an injury, will be gone to ground. There'll be other people coming out of the woodwork then who will say there's the GAA dragging their feet again.
"We are all talking about senior at the minute, but don't forget this is happening at underage as well."
