Tyrrell is top Cat

Kilkenny's Jackie Tyrell
Jackie Tyrrell has been chosen as Kilkenny's Hurler of the Year, pipping his James Stephens club-mate and national Hurler of the Year Eoin Larkin for the accolade.
Larkin earned the Hurler of the Year award in the GAA All-Stars and GPA schemes, along with the Texaco award, but Tyrrell was the 'Top Cat' in the eyes of those who select the overall Kilkenny Hurler of the Year.
The All-Star corner back was presented with his award at a function, sponsored by Michael Lyng Motors, in the Langton Hotel at the weekend. The judging panel included Kilkenny legends Eddie Keher and Pat Henderson.
The junior hurling award went to John Cottrell, who starred in Tullogher/Rosbercon's Leinster club final victory over Wexford side Clongeen in Nowlan Park on Sunday, while the intermediate Hurler of the Year award went Damien Fogarty of Erin's Own, Castlecomer.
