Leinster club JFC: Moynalvey to face 'Bridge in final

November 24, 2008
Meath champions Moynalvey will face their Westmeath counterparts St. Mary's, Rochfortbridge in the Leinster junior club football final following their semi-final wins yesterday. It is the second-in-a-row that the final will be contested by teams from the neighbouring counties - last year Athboy came out on top against Rosemount. A dominant second half display saw Moynalvey overcome Kilkenny champions Mooncoin at Pairc Tailteann. Mooncoin held their own in the first half, but could only add a point in the second half when playing against the wind. Ray Wall gave them a dream start with an early goal, but similar scores from former Meath and Kildare player Cathal Sheridan and Brian Gilsenan saw Moynalvey take a 2-3 to 1-2 lead into the interval and they went on to dominate the second half. At Rochfortbridge, St. Mary's maintained their unbeaten championship run in 2008 with a 1-8 to 1-4 victory over Killeshin of Laois. Unlike in most of their previous games this year, St. Mary's had to work hard for their victory and had their experienced midfield pairing of ex-county stars Damien Gavin and David Mitchell to thank for helping them past the Laois champions.
