Fennelly blow for Ballyhale
November 19, 2008
Ballyhale Shamrocks manager Maurice Alyward is resigned to being without Colin Fennelly for Sunday week's Leinster club hurling final against Birr.
The wing forward missed the quarter-final and semi-final wins over Rathdowney-Errill and Raharney respectively after breaking a bone in his wrist during the county semi-final against neighbours Carrickshock on October 12, and still hasn't recovered.
"Colin is going for a scan next Monday and he will have the plaster removed from his hand then," Alyward explained.
"But even if the bone in his hand has healed well by Monday, he wouldn't be able to play in a match just six days later. The bone in question is the scaphold, and according to medical people, it's a bone that takes very long to heal.
"Colin's brother (county midfielder) Michael also broke the same bone back in May, and he was out for the best part of two months."
