Conran praise for players

October 27, 2008
Leinster hurling manager John Conran heaped praise on his players for not just overcoming Connacht in the inter-provincial semi-final, but the terrible weather conditions as well. The game was a keenly contested affair that went down to the wire, but goals from Kilkenny's Richie Power and Carlow forward Edward Coady helped Leinster into the final where they will meet Munster next Saturday. Conran stressed that the players should take great credit for the performance that they produced against a Galway side consisting entirely of Galway hurlers. "The conditions made it tough. In the end getting the goal with five minutes left, left a fair mountain for Connacht to climb at that stage up to then it was a ding-dong battle. "We got another point then young Richie Hogan got a great point, catching the ball from a puck-out and turning to hit it over the bar, which gave us a four-point lead. That was the cushion then."
