Kilkenny hurling selector Michael Dempsey may well end his tenure with Brian Cody's management team after this Sunday's All-Ireland final to opt for the Laois football trainer's job.
According to a report in today's Irish Daily Mirror, Dempsey and his brother Sean have been tipped to be installed into the football management position at the O'Moore County, and are to be interviewed this week by the Laois County Board.
The pair are favourites to land the job as they have both played and managed in the O'Moore County at various levels, with Michael being tipped to act as physical trainer as he is currently doing with the Cats.
County Board chairman Larry Doone revealed that the interviews may well run into next week, with a management team hoped to be appointed by towards the end of the week.
"We will be holding the interviews this week," said Doone.
"There will be half-a-dozen lads to interview and some of them could then run until Monday.
"We could have a decision towards the end of the week," the chairman admitted.
