Fitzgerald admits to feeling 'betrayed'
August 31, 2008
Waterford hurling boss Davy Fitzgerald has admitted that he has been left feeling "betrayed" after a video clip of him giving a half-time talk to his Limerick IT side made it onto the internet site Youtube.
The player who videoed the speech on his phone has since been identified as a former Kilkenny underage star.
"All that bothered me about it was the betrayal," said Fitzgerald. "The one thing I feel sorry about is that it's associated with coming out of Kilkenny.
"That's unfair to them because I know that 99,9% of Kilkenny people aren't like that. Kilkenny are a proud hurling people so they are, and even when people have reminded me that's it's come from Kilkenny, I've said forget about that.
"All that I've said is that the clown who put it on (the internet) mustn't have too much between his ears. He certainly didn't do anything for a team and that's maybe why he will never make it."
