Brennan focused on task in hand

New Laois selector Tommy Fitzgerald and manager Eddie Brennan will be in opposition for the Leinster club IHC final.

Laois manager Eddie Brennan will be putting his inter-county thoughts to one side for an hour on Saturday as he focuses on his club Graigue-Ballycallan’s Leinster IHC final against Portlaoise.

Brennan will come up against some of the players that he is set to manage next year, while the Portlaoise captain, Tommy Fitzgerald, will be his selector next year.

The eight-time All-Ireland winner stressed to the Kilkenny People that once the ball is thrown in all thoughts will be on winning the game.

“Some of the other lads in Laois are getting a great laugh out of this,” said Brennan. “It is just one of those things, a little side story.

“Once you cross that white line it is business. Trying to win the county final was everything. This is a massive bonus. For me the real satisfaction, because I am involved in the under-age committee and juvenile teams in the club, to see the kick the young lads are getting out of this. The young lads are getting exposed to a good level of hurling.”
