Ballyhale Shamrocks' Colin Fennelly on his way to scoring his side's second goal against Naomh Eanna

Henry Shefflin reckons Colin Fennelly answered his critics with a devastating scoring performance for Ballyhale yesterday.

Only back from Australia where Kilkenny played Galway in the inaugural Wild Geese Trophy match last Sunday, the county star showed no signs of jet leg as he blasted 4-4 from play in Ballyhale's 6-21 to 4-11 Leinster club SHC semi-final victory over Naomh Eanna at Innovate Wexford Park

"I know this year wasn't a great year at county level, and some people were questioning him, but since he came back for me he's worked and worked," Shamrocks manager Shefflin told the Irish Independent.

"He wasn't scoring in some of our matches, but I still thought he was brilliant. Then he went to Australia, minded himself over there, as did the other three boys (Joey Holden, TJ Reid and Richie Reid), and he came back, wanted to do it.

"Colin's plan of attack was route one and he took his four goals excellently while also striking over some excellent points."
