Henry Shefflin’s managerial career is certainly on the rise, but unsurprisingly the ten-time All-Ireland SHC winner is remaining grounded.

Shefflin’s charges have been installed as favourites for the Kilkenny senior hurling championship following their quarterfinal win over Dicksboro last weekend.

Ballyhale’s performance was nothing short of outstanding with TJ Reid pulling the strings at centre forward, while Michael Fennelly returned to the side after a lengthy injury.

Despite, being pleased with the performance, Shefflin stressed to the Kilkenny People that they still have plenty of work to do.

“They played well and put up a good score,” said Shefflin. “We were very hungry for it. We couldn’t have asked for more. They have been training well and they are putting in a serious effort. Look, it’s about the work rate, the effort. We were hungry.

“We had to be against very good county champions Dicksboro. That was one game. The semi final is another. There have been so many upsets this season you have to be very, very careful.”
