Sky Sports have come in for fierce criticism from hurling fans after missing the first 20 minutes of this evening's thrilling Leinster SHC encounter between Kilkenny and Wexford in Nowlan Park.
The pay-per-view TV station was due to show the game on its Sky Sports Main Event platform at 7pm, but with the All-Ireland football qualifier between Tyrone and Meath, which was being shown on both Sky Sports Arena and Sky Sports Main Event, going to extra-time, viewers missed most of the first half.
"We'll be showing the action from Nowlan Park very shortly where Wexford lead Kilkenny by three points to two," presenter Rachel Wyse assured viewers, who questioned why the hurling couldn't have been shown on one of Sky's other sports channels.
Wexford dominated the first half before Kilkenny stormed back after the restart to win by a point and qualify for the Leinster SHC final against Galway.
Absolute shambles that Sky Sports are showing extra-time in the Meath vs Tyrone football game instead of Wexford vs Kilkenny. With Meath vs Tyrone being on both Main Event and Arena, surely they could show the start of the Wexford vs Kilkenny game on one of those channels? #GAA

Would Sky Sports have any say to request a delay to the throw-in in the Kilkenny v Wexford given they were showing live that and Meath v Tyrone, which went to extra-time? Seems to me like the punter is short-changed again #GAA

- Dunf 91 (@shaund91) June 9, 2018
Tyrone v Meath extra time been shown on 2 channels on @SkySports while the Kilkenny v Wexford is not been shown until the football match is over. Crazy stuff @officialgaa
- John Darcy (@jondarci) June 9, 2018
If @RTEgaa was covering the Wexford v Kilkenny match we would not be stuck watching a poor football match. @officialgaa the next time you are divying out TV rights can you ensure that @SkySports show the matches they commit to show when they agree to show them.

@SkySports @officialgaa What's this nonsense bog ball on Sky. Looking forward to Kilkenny Wexford and have to miss it for this nonsense? Cancelling my sub ASAP.

@SkySports @SkySportsGAA @officialgaa Sky should never get a GAA contract again. Crazy that Sky not showing Kilkenny Wexford game.

Sky Sports with all their channels and they can't show Wexford v Kilkenny. Have Meath v Tyrone on two of the channels then as well
- Seamus Barrett (@seamyb1) June 9, 2018
@SkySportsGAA @SkySports - The fact you failed to show the first 20mins of the Wexford Kilkenny match on either sports channels is a disgrace especially since it's a cracker, not impressed
