Ugly scenes were witnessed at St Conleth's Park Newbridge over the weekend as a row broke out at the end of a SFC quarterfinal.

Sarsfields cruised to an eight-point win over Athy in an eagerly awaited last-eight clash on Saturday last.

The game itself went off without any real incidents, even though Athy received two straight red cards, but following the final whistle a few players became embroiled in a row.

Officials and mentors from both sides tried to restore calm which they managed to do, although there could be sanctions from the county board following the incident.

Sarsfields now progress to the semi-finals where they will take on Confey, while in the other semi-final Moorefield will play Celbridge.
