It may not have broken any records, but Moorefield player Ciaran Kelly's haul of five goals in a Kildare SFC game is a serious feat at any level.
Kelly scored two goals in the first half and then a hat-trick in the second as Moorefield cruised to an 8-13 to 0-09 win over luckless Johnstownbridge.
The losers were missing some of their county players like Paul Cribbin and Daniel Flynn, but it was still a day for them to forget.
However, it was a memorable one for Kelly in particular as it is a feat more accustomed to an underage match rather than a senior football championship match.
Kelly led by example as he is captain of Moorefield this year and if he continues with performances like that there is a strong chance he could be lifting the title at the end of the year.
