Leixlip club notes

July 18, 2016

Lotto: There was no winner of the lotto jackpot worth €7,300. Numbers drawn were 2, 15, 16, & 21. Ten lucky draw winners won €20 each. Next week's jackpot will be €7,400. Don't forget you can also play on-line (www.leixlipgaa.ie). Thank you for your support.

Membership: Membership for 2016 is now overdue. All players (adults and children), mentors and officials MUST be a member of the club - otherwise they are not covered under the GAA insurance scheme. NEW MEMBERS ALWAYS WELCOME. Payment can be made on the website (www.leixlipgaa.ie).

Sponsorship: Leixlip GAA encourages members where possible to support the local businesses that support the club. To find out more about our sponsorship packages, please contact us at the email address below.

Bag Pack: Volunteers are required to help out with a fundraising bag-pack in Tesco Maynooth on the weekend of 5th and 6th August. We hope to enlist a panel of teenage members to attend for 2/3 hours each. Team coaches will be in touch to confirm names.

Senior Football: The Senior Football team play their final League match away to Naas on Wednesday 20th July at 8.00pm, and victory will mean the team will finish in 5th position, which would be a magnificent achievement. Well done to goalscorer Tommy Moolick and the Kildare team on their victory over Offaly in the All-Ireland Qualifiers last Saturday. More of the same this Saturday in Castlebar at 7.00pm would do nicely.

Senior Hurling: Congratulations to the Senior Hurling team, who defeated the County Champions, Coill Dubh last Sunday in a remarkable display of grit, determination & skill to progress to the winners group in the Championship.

Senior Ladies Football: Congratulations to Maria Moolick, Grainne Lyons, Tara Hallinan, & Aisling Savage, who helped Kildare retain their Leinster title with a hard-fought victory over Wexford in the final last Sunday. The Leixlip Senior Ladies play the first round of the Championship next Tuesday 19th July on Radley Park at 7.30pm.

Senior Camogie: The Senior Camogie team had a convincing win over Eire Óg in the Championship last Monday. Their next match is at Home to Athy on Monday 25th July.

Cúl Camp: The Leixlip Kelloggs Cúl Camp took place this week with record numbers of children participating in dry, warm weather. Well done to Shóna Killeen and her team. Look out for details of our own camp in August.

Buntús: In association with the Academy, we intend to roll out the Irish Sports Council's Buntús programme for pre-school children (2-5 year olds). Any parents that are interested can contact one of the Academy coaches, or reply to the email address below.

In Sympathy: We offer our sincere condolences to the family of Gerry McCarthy. Gerry was familiar to members as the clubhouse doorman for many years. Funeral is in Confey Church tomorrow morning after 10.30am Mass. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.
