Abbey Rangers
The Abbey Rangers under 14s are All Ireland champions!

Rangers won the Division 9 shield of the national Féile competition over the weekend in Kerry. The young men of Ballykelly and Kildangan had wins against Kerry's Kilgarvan/Tuosist and Leitrim's Mohill, and a narrow defeat to their hosts Glenflesk in the group stages.

This saw them progress to the quarter final, where they took on St Patrick's, Blennerville (Kerry), winning 4-8 to 2-0. A 6-5 to 2-8 victory over Dingle in the semi-final led them to the final in Lewis Road, the home of Dr. Croke's. The boys had no fear against Clondegad of Clare, with a final score of 5-11 to 1-1.

The performances in these games are a credit to both clubs and their mentors, Fergal Gilbert, Galen Broughall, Liam O'Donovan and Trevor Holligan, but most importantly, to the players themselves. Congratulations to all involved!

They are also up against Rathangan in the championship final on Wednesday. Throw-in is at 6.30pm in Hawkfield, so please come and support the team.

Senior Football
Our seniors struggled in the second round of the championship, succumbing to a 3-9 to 1-7 defeat against Rheban in Hawkfield last Thursday. Rheban were the much more clinical side, taking every chance that fell to them. Kildangan began to show great spirit in the last ten minutes of the game, with Padraig Casey scoring a magnificent goal from a free, but unfortunately, it was far too late. We play Milltown in the next round on the third weekend in July. We also have a number of league games left, so keep an eye on our website for updates.

Training for our senior team takes place on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7.30pm. If you are interested in playing Gaelic football for Kildangan, feel free to come to a training session.

Juvenile Football
Our under 9s and under 11s finished their summer league campaigns last week with games against Grangenolvin and Athy respectively, which both teams showing great determination in fine displays of football. Our under 13s are due to kick off their league campaign against Ellistown this week. See our website for more information.
