Cian O'Neill wants Kildare to be more consistent.

The Lilywhites made it two wins from two in Division 3 at Offaly's expense yesterday, but O'Neill was disappointed that they allowed the Faithful back into the game in the closing stages.

"We controlled the early parts of the game and for some reason, yet to be found and explained, we drift out of a match when we should be controlling it and we let the other team in," the Kildare manager noted in the Irish Independent.

"We didn't take a couple of chances we had, but once we got a grip around midfield - I think that's where the match was won and lost - we controlled the game. You have to be happy with the players, they are resilient because they were put under pressure by Offaly who got a lot of momentum after the [Peter Cunningham] penalty.

"All in all, there's plenty to improve on and work on, but you have to be happy with what the guys did out there, especially when they saw the game out in the last five minutes."

Offaly boss Pat Flanagan wasn't making any excuses.

"Kildare were the better team for long parts of the game today. We were a bit concerned that they would hit us hard at the start of the game and that's what they did," he said.

"We were three points down after a few minutes and to be fair to our lads, they kept battling and we had a goal chance in the first half and two in the second half."
