Sarsfields coach Anthony Rainbow has vented his anger at the Kildare CCC following their decision not to overturn an appeal over defender Conor Tiernan's suspension.

Tiernan was dismissed during the county final win over Athy and was subsequently handed a one-match ban. However, he appealed the decision to the Kildare CCC who turned it down.

Sarsfields then went to the Leinster CCC and they in turn referred it back to Kildare who refused to change their original decision.

The Kildare champions were forced to line out without Tiernan and they lost the match by a solitary point, much to the annoyance of Rainbow.

"The Leinster CC upheld the appeal and sent it back to Kildare for further consideration, what baffles me is how Kildare could not overturn the decision; it seems to me they just want to fail rather than succeed in this county," Rainbow told the Leinster Leader.

"He (Conor Tiernan) was reported for gouging which is a scourge to Conor; it's not fair to brand a fella of Conor's ability and character for eye gouging in a match when he didn't do it; it is a disgrace, I'm lost for words. Conor is annoyed, the players are annoyed, John (Crofton) is annoyed but we just have to get on with it."
