Club delegates at last night's Kildare County Board meeting were informed that the county has regained its financial independence.

Treasurer Alan Dunney informed the meeting in his end of financial year summary that this year's accounts will show a very healthy surplus which will be in excess of €200,000, excluding grants.

Gate receipts are up by a massive €70,000 to €240,000 while Club Kildare ran a very successful Club & County Draw that raised a total of €260,000, of which €180,000 was retained by the Clubs.

Alan Dunney told delegates that because of the progress made during the last twelve months, the financial oversight from Croke Park will now be removed and he thanked all clubs for their help and support.
