Half time tuning suits Lillies

Kildare defender Ciaran Fitzpatrick revealed that a new half time ritual helped them blitz Laois in last Saturday's Leinster SFC quarterfinal replay.

An impressive 2-05 inside the opening eight minutes of the second half saw Kildare ease through to the provincial semi-final where they will meet Dublin.

And Fitzpatrick told the Leinster Leader that they have been doing something new at half time as the players come out early to warm up for the second half.

"It is something we brought in last week; some lads feel that when they come back out after half time that they can be sluggish or heavy in the legs, it's just a way of getting tuned in again and ready to go for the second half," said Fitzpatrick.

"We had a chat at half time because we knew our intensity wasn't up to the levels that it should have been. We were kind of letting them dictate the pace.

"In the second half, we just hit the ground running and the important thing was that the shooting boots were on; we got those scores at a vital time and the goals really killed them off. We never let up after that."
