All-Ireland champions Cavan were relieved of their crown by Louth on a thrilling night of action in the Leinster JFC.

There were also wins for Longford over Kildare and Wexford against Wicklow tonight.

The Wee County took a 0-9 to 0-5 interval lead against the Breffni County but a Conor Madden goal ten minutes into the second half gave Cavan the lead for the first time.

It looked as through the Ulster wide would grab the win from Drogheda when they led by three points deep into injury time before Ronan Holcroft's penalty sent the game to extra time, 1-12 apiece.

With Holcroft outstanding, Louth edged the battle by 1-19 to 1-18.

At Pearse Park Longford were impressive 2-9 to 0-10 winners over Kildare, having held a 1-5 to 0-5 interval lead.

Wexford demolished Wicklow in Bellefield, Enniscorthy on a 3-18 to 0-6 scoreline.
