Kildare forward Alan Smith admits that it was great to be back on the pitch after a long lay off.
Smith made his first start of the year when he lined out in the win over Laois, which keeps their hopes of staying in Division Two alive.
And the talented forward was delighted to come through the game unscathed, while he is looking forward to the Galway clash.
"It was great to get back on the field," Smith told the Kildare Nationalist. "I knew I had to get the operation after last year's championship.
"I was struggling coming into the summer and knew I had to get it done. On a personal level, I've worked hard the last couple of months and thought I've been going well in the last couple of weeks in training. I'm happy with my own performance and hopefully I'll be able to do the same against Galway next week."
