Murphy: we've reached our target

March 25, 2015

Kildare under-21 manager Brian Murphy admits that their goal at the start of the year was to reach the Leinster final.

The Lilywhites will take on Dublin in this year's decider following an eight-point win over Meath in the semi-final last week.

Murphy guided Kildare to Leinster minor glory two years ago and he is hoping to do the same with the under-21s this year.

"It's great to be back in a Leinster final," Murphy told the Kildare Nationalist. "That was our target at the start of the year, we're there now and it's great but it wasn't without a battle, nothing more than you would expect of Meath. I think our lads have shown a lot of character in the last two games.

"They are a great bunch of lads. They are working very hard for each other, they are trying to do all the things in terms on and off the field with preparation.

"They are getting great experience from Anthony (Rainbow) and Noel (Mooney) and all the lads that are working with them. They are buying into it which is the important thing. We're in a final now which is a great place to be, we got there the hard way, there have been questions asked of us in both games so far and we've got there on merit."
