LeinsterJuvenile Handball Finals:
A grand slam of four Leinster Final victories out of four for Leixlip's juveniles over the weekend (27 Feb-1March) -
On Friday 27th in Ballymore, Sean Muddiman proved far too strong for Louth opponent Marc McCullogh, winning a very welcome first Leinster title at U17 on an impressive 21-3,
21 -4 scoreline.
This was followed on Saturday in Tinryland by an equally convincing Leah Doyle who had no trouble whatever in retaining her U/14 title against Carlow girl Laura Donovan with a 2-0 result.
On Sunday, also at the Tinryland venue, Abby Tarrant, despite losing her first game by the narrowest of margins, showed great skill and resolve to take the U/13 Leinster title on a score of 14-15, 15-8, 15-3 against Laois girl Lauren McGuigan.
Finally, on the same programme, Mollie Dagg and Jade Treacy had far too much power and expertise for an inexperienced Wexford pairing of Chloe Doyle and Ciara Parnell, taking the U/14 doubles 15-7, 15-1
All- Ireland Minor Semi-Final
Following a highly impressive Leinster campaign, Hannah Dagg's bid to reach the All-Ireland Minor 40×20 Final ended in a semi-final tiebreak defeat to Ulster Champion, Tyrone's Elise McRory, on Saturday last 28th February in Leixlip. In a game of high quality, the explosive serving and gritty resolve of the Northerner proved crucial while Hannah, though she played some lovely handball, was unable to get a similarly consistent return on her own serving strategy. Final score was 21-17, 3-21, 13-21.
Well done to all.
