Kildare's Daniel Flynn.

Kildare's Daniel Flynn has officially informed Port Adelaide that he will not be returning to Aussie Rules.

The Lilywhite ace had returned home at the end of last year and was given extended leave after he informed the club he was dealing with homesickness.

But the 21-year-old has now told the club he will not be part of the 2015 season.

In a statement issued today, Port Adelaide General Manager - Football, Chris Davies says the club is disappointed but respects Flynn's decision.

"We're obviously disappointed that Daniel won't be returning to the club but we understand his reasons.

"Daniel has battled with homesickness while he's been at Alberton including taking extended leave for eight weeks last March.

"Daniel has been well liked team member and we all wish him the best for the future."

Flynn played 15 SANFL games for Port Adelaide, including the 2014 SANFL Grand Final after debuting in Round 5 against the Adelaide Crows in Clare.
