Rathcoffey GAA club notes

November 14, 2014

Under 15 football
Well done to our St Edwards minors (Rathcoffey + Cappagh) who have reached the Division 2 league final where they play Kilcock this Sunday 16th November.  Throw in is at 12 noon in Hawkfield.  Division two is a very high standard and Kilcock is one of the county's big clubs; it would be great to see a big support out to cheer on the lads as they bid to bring more silverware home to the club.

Senior Football
The club's senior footballers are back in pre-season training in preparation for the 2015 season.  If the numbers are there, it is hoped to field a second team next season.  Please make contact with any member of the committee, or drop a line to  HYPERLINK "mailto:[email protected]" [email protected] if you are interested in togging out in 2015.

AGM
The Rathcoffey GAA 2014 Annual General Meeting will take place on Sunday 23rd November at 6pm in the clubhouse main meeting room.  It's been an exciting year for the club on the field with our senior team beaten by the county champions, Straffan, at the semi-final stage, and with great runs by a number of our underage teams.  Off the field we held a successful fun-run and club cycle once more and a great mid summer golf classic and family BBQ.  Most importantly, we prepared and seeded our new ground in the hope of having a playing surface ready by 2015 to enable drainage on our main pitches.  There is much to discuss and to look forward to over the next year.  We welcome any positive input and new members to the committee, if you are available to support.

Club Cycle
The 2014 Club cycle was a superb event and the most successful and biggest turnout yet, despite the wind blowing on the morning.  There was lots of praise for the organising committee on the day - too many to name here.  We're already looking forward to the 2016 event and to making it bigger and better.

2015 Fun Run
The 2015 Fun Run has been set for Saturday 7th February.   The emphasis is on fun with a great community spirit in the club on the day.  We had a runner from as far away as Belfast last year with almost 250 participants, despite the tail-end of a hurricane blowing that morning.  Mark the date in your calendars and maybe get together with your friends - the preparation and the run itself are more fun with friends.   If you would like to set up a training group, let us know and we can publicise the details for you.

Club Lotto
The lotto jackpot continues to roll over and has now reached €4,700.  The numbers drawn on 9th November for a jackpot of €4,600 were 2, 8, 13 and 20.  The winners of the €20 prize were Anthony Campbell, Rod Walsh, Claire Curtin and Deirdre Horan.  Sean Moriarty won the sellers prize and Colm O'Neill the in-house draw.
Numbers drawn on 2nd November (jackpot: €4,500) were 1, 3, 14 and 15.  The €20 winners were Padraig Farrell, Tom Travers, David Carbery and Peter Noonan.  Willie Mullally won the sellers prize and John Flood the in-house draw.
The jackpot of €4,400 also went unclaimed on 26th October (numbers drawn: 7, 8, 13, 22).  The winners of €20 were Claire Flood, Fergus Dalton, Brendan Travers and Jeanette Riordan.  Sean Moriarty won the sellers prize and Majella Toman the in-house draw.
Playing lotto is easy.  To set up a standing order, please contact any committee member, or to buy a ticket for just €2 please call to the clubhouse any night after 8pm.  The draw takes place on Sunday night after 9pm.
