After 18 long years, Eadestown were crowned Kildare intermediate football champions following a 1-10 to 0-11 victory over Round Towers at St. Conleth's Park yesterday.
After losing IFC finals in 2001 and 2002 and hardly winning a game in 2009, Eadestown can now look forward to representing their county in Leinster and playing in the senior championship next year.
For the Bolton family, the success was especially sweet with county star Emmet being joined on the team by his younger brother Cian, while their father Eamon was a selector. Cian, who has played for the Kildare juniors, put his hand up for inclusion in Jason Ryan's senior squad by scoring 0-8 in a man of the match display.
2010 All Star nominee and Ireland International Rules star Emmet said about his beloved club before yesterday's final: "Everyone is very close knit, especially in a small parish, I believe it's closer than a town team.
"You put your body on the line for your county and stuff like that, but it is nearly twice as good when you go back to the club to play with lads you grew up."
