Johnny Doyle gave a scoring masterclass for Allenwood as they edged out Confey by 1-15 to 1-14 in Newbridge this evening to book their place in the Kildare SFC quarter-finals.

The veteran forward, who retired from inter-county duty earlier this year, scored 1-10 in a dramatic contest which was decided by Martin Baneham's last-minute winner for Allenwood. With Kildare manager Jason Ryan looking on, Doyle shot 1-7 in the first half, with his goal coming from a penalty just before half-time to give his side to a 1-11 to 0-5 interval lead.

Confey came storming back in the second half with Colm McKieran's 46th minute goal reducing the arrears to just two points, 1-10 to 1-12. Jimmy Gately eventually brought them level, but Baneham had the final say.

Meanwhile, Clane staved off the threat of relegation thanks to a 1-12 to 0-11 victory over Confey's neighbours, Leixlip, who will now face Ballymore Eustace in the SFC relegation final.
