Rathcoffey GAA club news

September 12, 2014

Senior Football
This is a big weekend for Rathcoffey with the club's first appearance in a championship semifinal in many years.  This one as added interest with the opposition being neighbours, Straffan.  With many of the team having played alongside some of the Straffan players at underage and schools level, it should be a great occasion.  Very best wishes to all the lads this weekend.

Club Cycle
The 2014 Club Cycle takes place on Sunday 19th October.  There will be a 90k route leaving Rathcoffey GAA at 10 am and heading via Kilcock to Trim before heading for Enfield, Johnstownbridge, Carbury, Allenwood, Prosperous and back to Rathcoffey GAA Club.  The 50k route cyclists leave Rathcoffey at 11.15 a.m and will go via Kilcock to Enfield after which it joins the 90k route on return to Rathcoffey.  The cost of the long cycles will be €25 per person.  New to this year's cycle will be a 10k local route for families, at a cost of just €10 per family.  This will follow the course of the popular fun run, from Rathcoffey to Smithstown and Johninstown and should be great fun for cyclists of all ages - what a great opportunity to get the whole family out on a fun occasion.
Registration will open at 8.30 a.m. when refreshments will be served.  On return to the clubhouse, the BBQ will be fired up with burgers for all hungry returning cyclists.  This promises to be a great occasion and is the club's main fundraiser for the second half of the year, so please mark it in your calendars.  Watch our Facebook page and our website for further details or contact Chris McGovern at 086 252 8295.
Under 16
Congrats to our Under 16s, coached by Padraig, who beat Ballyna in the Championship Semi-final last Friday night.   They play Ballymore tonight in the final at 6.30pm in Hawkfield.  Good luck to the lads.
Club Lotto
The lotto jackpot of €3,700, was not won on Sunday 7th September   The numbers drawn were 12, 20, 21 and 22.  The €20 winners were Jack Walsh, Paddy Moore, Eugene Riordan and Eamonn Cunningham.  Eugene also won the sellers prize and Niamh Coleman picked up the in-house prize.  Next week's jackpot will be €3,800.  You can purchase a ticket for €2 any evening at the clubhouse, or contact any committee member to pre-pay for several weeks or to set up a standing order.  The draw takes place every Sunday night after 9pm.
Under 11 Girls
Well done to the Under 11 girls who played a great game against a combined Kildangan / Nurney side recently.  Our girls took their scores early in the match and built on this throughout the game.  And although Kildangan / Nurney made some key substitutions which had an impact on the game, our girls had their own strong panel to call on to make sure it was an exciting game right to the end.
Bingo
Rathcoffey GAA Club hosts bingo every Monday night with great prize money to be won.  There are usually over 200 attendees each week and all are welcome.
