Our U13 girls started their league campaign on Thursday night, when the welcomed Carbrury into the club. Our girls faced a difficult breeze in the 1st half, but opened the scoring with a couple of well worked points. 1st 10 mins saw Ballykelly pressure Carbrury, but Carbrury stood firm and then got a break out of goals and worked the ball at pace down the pitch to open their scoring account. They would push from there and get a goal and then it becam e a battle between two strong teams both working tirelessly for the cause. It was Carbrury that went into the break with a slender 2 point lead. 2nd half and again Ballykelly opened the scoring with a well taken point. Carbrury were not to be outdone and went ahead again. Carbrury were well up for this game and certainly took the game to Ballykelly and began to stretch out a lead. It took a fingertip save from Amy Ures to keep the gap down and it was from here, that our girls began to push. 5 minutes to go and Carbrury had a 4 point lead. Our girls never say die attitude was to prove crucial. they worked the ball and fought for everything scrap to get a sight of goal and when they did, they took the goal well with some grit and determination. Goal kick was won by Ballykelly in the dying moments of injury time, and they slotted the ball calmly over the bar to draw the game. An excellent game of football at a very high level. Well done to all the girls for the hard graft they put in at very game.
