Report by Louise McGuirk
Venue:- Suncroft GAA
Teams:- Suncroft v Kilcock
Competition:-Ladies Junior A championship
Match Report:-
The match was played in dry weather conditions both teams fielded full teams of 15 players.
Kilcock who won the toss opted to play against the wind in the first half. Both teams started well and the opening minutes provided some very high quality football from both sides. The match was 12 minutes old before Troine Duggan opened the scoring with a fine point for Suncroft, Nicole Dooley scored a second point for Suncroft before Kilcock's full forward opened their account with a goal. Kilcock scored a further 2 points before half time to lead at the break by 1-2 to 0-2.
With the aid of the wind in the second half it provided Kilcock with an advantage that Suncroft could not overcome and despite a brave performance by all the team and scoring 1-3 in the second half they were unable to contain Kilcock who scored 9 points before a goal and a further 5 points sealed the win..
Final score Suncroft 1-5 Kilcock 2-16
Well done to all who participated.

Sarsfields 2 V Cappagh
Venue: Sarsfields
A great crowd turned out to watch Sarsfields take on Cappagh in Round 5 of the Junior C Championship last night and what a game it turned out to be. The visitors opened the scoring 2 minutes in with a well taken point. A minute later Emma Hannon settled the home teams nerves with an equaliser. Aoife Whelan added a point for the Sash on 4 mins. Cappagh scored a goal on 6 mins through Aoife Mulligan but Sarsfields rallied with points from Molly Cassidy 8 mins, Emma Hannon 9 mins and a well taken goal from Molly Cassidy on 16 mins gave Sarsfields a 2pt lead. Mary Boyce added a point for Sarsfields on 20 mins. Cappagh pulled one back with a fine effort on 26 mins. Sarsfields finished the half strongly with 2 pts from Kellie Fisher and Jessica Nolan.
Half Time Score: Sarsfields 1.07 Cappagh 1.03
The second half began much like the first. Eimear Dempsey opened the scoring for Sarsfields with a point on 4 mins. Cappagh not to be outdone enjoyed a strong period scoring points on 5, 8, & 10 mins followed by a well taken goal on 12 mins. Two more points from Cappagh on 17 & 18 mins saw the game turn in favour of the visitor's. The Sarsfield backline made some fantastic blocks and it gave their forwards a solid platform to build. Sarsfields finished the game with 6 unanswered points, Emma Hannon 2, and points from Kellie Fisher, Jessica Nolan, Kirstin McGuirk and Eimear Dempsey sealed a hard fought win for the home team.
This was one of the most enjoyable games I have been to this season and both Teams deserve great credit for the way they played the game.
