Kildangan GAA club notes

August 15, 2014
Competition is resuming for underage following a hiatus for few weeks summer holidays, with competition at Under 9, Under 11 and Under 13 levels.
Kildangan Under 13s will compete in the Bord na nOg all county league in Division 4. This is the first time we have fielded on our own at this age level. No fixtures have been released yet, however with games against Ballykelly, Castlemitchell, Ellistown, Grange and Nurney there are a few local derbies, which always brings out the best in teams. This league commences on Sunday 24th August.

This under 13 team had a decent run in the South Board league, just missing a semi-final slot on scoring difference. We had two losses from the five games, in both cases to eventual finalists St. Laurences and Moorefield.

Under 11 Fixtures have also been released by the South Board. The league begins on 28th August with a home game against Milltown. On 4th September Kildangan make the trip to Kilcullen, the following Thursday Kildangan host Athgarvan, the league finishes with an away trip to Grange on 18th September

Kildangan Under 9s have been handed a tough group in their league, starting on 19th August where we make the short trip to Suncroft, on 2nd September we host Rathangan, followed by an away game against Eadestown, the final round game is at home against Castledermot

Our amalgamation with Castlemitchell, Barrow Gaels has been going well in the under 16 championship, with four wins from four. This championship is taking a break at the moment and will resume in the coming weeks. Barrow Gaels Minors will take on Raheens in round one of the minor championship on Tuesday 19th August, the following Tuesday the team will play Naas in round two, both games are away fixtures.

Senior Update
Kildangan Seniors bowed out of the Championship with an eight point defeat by Ellistown on Sunday evening 10th August.
Kildangan could be considered unlucky, on the night decisions went against us at vital times. However, the new blood introduced to the senior team certainly augurs well for the future, this team has plenty of potential, and they did Kildangan, themselves, and their families proud on the day and throughout the championship.

With the Senior season ending all that remains is to thank the manager, selectors, physios, players and supporters for everything in 2014.
