Rathcoffey GAA Notes

August 15, 2014
Senior Team
Congratulations to our senior team which recorded their second championship victory of 2014 with a fine win over Grangenolvin, at the county grounds in Newbridge. Despite driving rain at times, both teams showed plenty of skill in what was a sporting encounter throughout. Some fine defending from Rathcoffey was complemented by excellent score taking up front. Jason Acton slotted seven points, including two fine 45's in two minutes in the second half. Rathcoffey finished the game with six minors on the field, showing great promise for the future of the North Kildare side. The team's next outing is against Ballykelly on Saturday 23rd August in Ballyteague, with a 5pm throw-in.
Minors
The minor footballers kick off their championship campaign on Tuesday evening next (19th August) when St. Edwards play Carbury. Throw in is at 7pm. They then play Sallins in the second round. The minor footballers are the future of our club - please lend your support to these lads who will hopefully be giving the club many more proud days to come.
Juvenile Section
The Juvenile section is swinging back into action for the Autumn season with under 8s, 10s and 12s starting back on Sat 30th August and under 9s and 11s on the 4th September. Training will start back for some teams this week so watch out for communications from your child's team mentors.
Club Cycle
The club is finalising a date for the 2014 edition of its 'Bike to Blessington' event, which will take place in October. The cycle committee is looking at shorter routes for the more casual cyclist and a local family route to ensure that everyone can get involved. Watch the usual club news outlets for more details.
Club Lotto
The Lotto jackpot has rolled over for several weeks and now stands at €3,400. You can purchase a ticket for €2 any evening, or contact any committee member to pre-pay for several weeks or to set up a standing order. The draw takes place every Sunday night after 9pm.
Dates for your diary
Some dates for the diary; the club AGM has been fixed for Sunday 23rd November. Meanwhile the club's Christmas dinner will take place on Saturday 29th November this year.
