Kildare defender Ciaran Fitzpatrick revealed that the confidence was in the squad to get the job done against Down.

The Lilywhites bounced back from their defeat to Meath in the Leinster semi final to record an emphatic win over Down in the qualifiers at Pairc Esler last Sunday.

And Fitzpatrick told the Leinster Leader that despite the loss to the Royals, they felt that they could bounce back in the qualifiers.

"We always had the belief in the panel and we knew that we let ourselves down against Meath. It was just an off day I think," said Fitzpatrick.

"We came in after the Meath game knowing that we had let ourselves down. We had a talk about it, we analysed it through video to see where we needed to improve and left it there because once we knew we had Down that's what our focus was on."
