Ballykelly Club Notes

April 07, 2014
Our senior girls put in a fantastic display tonight in rd 1 of the senior league div 3 in Stephen O Rourke memorial park. The girls from ballykelly led with some early scores from Niamh Sinnott and a goal from Martina Casey. Kilcullen were dangerous on the break and kept in touching distance throughout the half. Right on half time Kilcullen were awarded a penalty when Laura Coe was adjudged to have fouled the Kilcullen forward coming in and Kilcullen dispatched the penalty to lead by a pt at half time, 2-6 to Ballykellys 1-8. The second half saw Ballykelly take the lead back with points from Niamh Sinnott. Kilcullen goaled again to lead and as the game entered the final 10 minutes it was the girls from Ballykelly who found their reserves of fitness that they've built over the last couple of months in the gym and two superb goals from Denise Callanan saw them lead as the game ticked away. Kilcullen launched one last attack and as it broke down referee Jody Callan blew the final whistle. Great result ladies, pics will be up in a short while. Final score Ballykelly 3-12 Kilcullen 3-11

Our Underage Easter Camp will take place on Tues 15th, Wed 16th and Thurs 17th of April this year. Time: 10am to 2pm. Price is 15Euros for 1st child and 5euros for each other child in your family. This is very reasonably priced and promises to be another huge success on the back of the previous 2 years we have run this camp. Application forms can be received from club shop or by contacting Tommy Curran or Karrie Grant. We ask for kids to be registered by next Friday evening if possible, but we will accept applications up to and including the morning of camp. Registration will take place at 9:30 on morning of camp. This is open to the whole community, so you don't have to be a Ballykelly player / member to take part.

A good first half coupled with an outstanding second half saw our u16 lads take the points in the league tonight against Barrow Gaels. The boys led 1-6 to 0-3 at half time aided by a strong breeze and a quick thinking goal on half time when Owen Whelans effort at a point tailed away and Jack Smith was on hand to finish to the net. The second half saw the boys face into a strong breeze and also face an uphill slope. These conditions wouldn't phase the boys however, as the lads were simply outstanding with strong displays from James Boland Cian Stafford David O Connell Stevo Mc Nally Conor Ryan Mark Sealey and best on the pitch tonight by a distance Owen Whelan. Well done boys, brilliant display in difficult conditions. Final score Ballykelly 3-14 Barrow Gaels
