Kildare LGFA notes
April 04, 2014
By Der Lawlor
Our senior girls put in a fantastic display tonight in rd 1 of the senior league div 3 in Stephen O Rourke memorial park. The girls from ballykelly led with some early scores from Niamh Sinnott and a goal from Martina Casey. Kilcullen were dangerous on the break and kept in touching distance throughout the half. Right on half time Kilcullen were awarded a penalty when Laura Coe was adjudged to have fouled the Kilcullen forward coming in and Kilcullen dispatched the penalty to lead by a pt at half time, 2-6 to Ballykellys 1-8. The second half saw Ballykelly take the lead back with points from Niamh Sinnott. Kilcullen goaled again to lead and as the game entered the final 10 minutes it was the girls from Ballykelly who found their reserves of fitness that they've built over the last couple of months in the gym and two superb goals from Denise Callanan saw them lead as the game ticked away. Kilcullen launched one last attack and as it broke down referee Jody Callan blew the final whistle. Great result ladies. Final score Ballykelly 3-12 Kilcullen 3-11
