Kildare went on another scoring spree tonight as Dublin football found a new hero in Danny Watson
The Lilywhites were in unstoppable form as they crushed Longford by 3-20 to 0-6 at Newtowncashel, while substitute Watson found the net twice in the second half to give the All-Ireland champions a hard-earned 2-6 to 0-8 victory over Louth at Parnell Park.
Laois eventually edged out Offaly by 2-18 to 1-15 in a Portlaoise thriller and UCD got the better or Wexford at Enniscorthy, 2-10 to 2-3.
Carlow fell to a second successive defeat as Athlone IT beat them by 1-15 to 0-13 at Carlow IT; DCU kept their great O'Byrne Cup legacy alive with a 2-15 to 2-9 win at Westmeath's expense in Mullingar; and Wicklow showed great resolve to grind out a 1-21 to 3-13 triumph over DIT in Newtownmountkennedy.
The Garden County will face Meath in Baltinglass on Sunday with a semi-final slot up for grabs. Tonight, the Royals accounted for IT Carlow by 0-18 to 0-12 in Navan.
