Kildare midfielder Kevin Feely believes that the Lilywhites can use the 'mark' to their advantage in 2018.

Introduced last year, the 'mark' has been seen as one of the better rules brought into the game, but it took teams the better part of the year to use it to their advantage.

And Feely told the Leinster Express that Kildare must utilise the mark to their advantage, especially in an area of the field where they are very strong.

"The mark is encouraging teams to go long with their kick outs because their attacking platform is now in the middle third of the pitch, it's a lot better than having to give the ball to a corner back and build from there, it gives teams with a strong midfield an advantage for that attacking platform and is something I think we can build on in 2018," said Feely.

Feely will be hoping to build on last year's performance which saw him put in some excellent displays, which helped earn him an All-Star nomination.
