The late Pat Adams It was with shock and sadness that the news of Pat Adam's death was received on the morning of Friday, March 3, 2006. Pat passed away at his residence in Kilkenny in the company of his wife Marie and his daughter Ciara. Pat was a tall, handsome man who was always cheerful, happy and content in personality he was devoted to his wife Marie and their two children Ciara and Sean. He was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease 12 months ago and fought bravely with a very progressive illness until he passed away. His acceptance of his illness, brought out the best in everyone who knew and loved Pat. Relatives and friends, who visited wept, laughed, prayed and offered their utmost support to Pat and Maria in thought, word and action. Pat stated that he had no regrets as he had lived his life to the full. His wife Marie was his rock and nursed Pat at home with great love and devotion. Pat had great faith in Padre Pio and was a regular attendent at mass. He was a man of few words but when he spoke people would sit up and listen. Pat had a unique sense of humour, loved by all who came into contact with him right up to the very end. Pat was born in Killarney to a family of seven. The son of Delia and the late Jim Adams he attended St Brendan's College in Killarney, a place where Gaelic football played a major part in his life. In 1986 he won a Munster College Senior Medal with St Brendan's College. Previous to that he won a Frewan Cup Medal in 1984 playing with the Sem. He captained Killarney to a Minor County Championship in 1986. His late father Jim was very proud of Pat's achievements. Pat played with the Legion Football Club from underage to senior level winning Division 1 and County Club in the 1993/1994 campaign. Pat attended college and qualified as a horticulturist and further expanded his career as a green keeper with Killarney Golf and Fishing Club. He moved to Waterford before marrying in 2000 where he became the Head Green keeper in Williamstown Golf Club. Pat's work was very important to him and he was highly respected by his fellow colleagues who regularly visited Pat through his illness. In Waterford he captained the Gaultier Football Club and they won the Intermediate Championship in 2003. Pat loved music and his favourite artist was Gary Numan. Pat's uniqueness was identified in his taste for music. He was a proud Kerryman who enjoyed meeting up with his friends on Munster football final day in Killarney. Pat was a loyal friend and was loved by all. He enjoyed the simple joys of life and his family and friends played a major role in his life. This was displayed by the very successful Golf Classic for Pat which took place in October 2005 in Killarney Golf and Fishing Club. At his funeral there were two guard of honour by his beloved Legion Football club Killarney and Gaultier Football Club in Waterford as he was loved and respected by all.
