Mary was also a rowing member of the Flesk Valley rowing club during the late 1950s, as well as being a keen golfer and bridge player. She also served on the Board of Management of Lissivigeen NS, and was deeply involved in parish Church activities. Her husband Donal who pre deceased her less then three years also and her son Michael were also deeply involve in the local GAA Club who provided a guard of honour at the removal and again at funeral.
