It was the highlight of the 2016 intercounty season - All-Ireland Football Final Day at Croke Park!

Holders Dublin locked horns with Mayo in the Sam Maguire Cup decider at 3:30, bidding to extend their remarkable unbeaten sequence and in the process be crowned All-Ireland senior football champions for the fourth time in six years (and the 26th time in total).

The challengers, meanwhile, were seeking their first success at this level since 1951. Including that victory 65 years ago, Mayo have been All-Ireland winners on three previous occasions.

Kerry and Galway did battle in the curtain-raiser: the Kingdom had won the last two All-Ireland MFCs and were aiming for a glorious three-in-a-row, while Galway hoped to land the Tom Markham Cup for the first time since 2007.
