Eamonn Fitzmaurice says he'll be hoping to hand Tommy Walsh more starting berths in a Kerry jersey in 2016.

Walsh's minutes at the business end of last season were limited after having returned home from Australia, being confined to bench throughout the All-Ireland final defeat to Dublin, but Kingdom boss was impressed by his performance for 65 minutes last weekend against the Metropolitans.

Asked if we're likely to see more of the Kerins O'Rahillys man this season, Fitzmaurice said: "I hope so, yeah. He showed against Dublin what a threat he can be when the ball goes into him.

"He did well in the middle of the field early on in the game as well as well, caught a couple of kick-outs.

"I think when he went inside then he was a threat, so it's a work in progress. Hopefully we'll see loads of him."

Colm Cooper, Kieran Donaghy, James O'Donoghue and Marc O Se will all be absent for this afternoon's test against Roscommon but Fitzmaurice is still confident ahead of the showdown in Killarney (throw-in 2pm).

"I still think we have a strong squad," he said. "Unfortunately they just didn't do themselves justice against Dublin."
