Dublin got the defence of their Allianz FL Division 1 title off to a winning start this evening and Paddy Andrews hopes they can carry the momentum into round 2.
The St Brigid's clubman scored 1-4 from play against Kerry and was rewarded with the 'man-of-the-match' accolade following his side's 2-14 to 0-14 victory.
"We're only back a couple of weeks, probably the same as Kerry so we're probably not at our peak yet, the same for most teams at this time of year," he told Setanta Sports.
"It's always nice to get a bit of momentum at the start of the year and it was a great work out there for the first night of the National League.
"Goals always win games and they give the team a bit of momentum. I think we got ours at the right time. It was sort of tit-for-tat for the first 40, 45 minutes but the goals gave us a bit of breathing space and we saw it out in the end.
"It was a good night tonight but we're going to have a big challenge in Castlebar against Mayo (next weekend)."
